We undertook a ride to London on 26th September, celebrating the work of famous 17th century author John Evelyn, and involving an inner city community in celebrating the importance of trees.

The 36-mile ‘Evelyn200’ ride started at John Evelyn’s family home at Wotton House, near Dorking in Surrey, and finished where his once famous garden and house flourished in Deptford at Sayes Court. We received a fantastic welcome from local schoolchildren and residents. We’ll publish a full report in due course, but meanwhile thought our supporters would appreciate this short film.

Evelyn200 – an award-winning community project

The event was a collaboration between Fund4Trees and local community group Deptford Folk, and its Evelyn200 project. Some riders were trustees of Fund4Trees, while others were London Tree Officers from the Borough of Islington, and from the local community.

We’re really grateful for all the support which helped make this event such a success. In particular we thank Deptford Folk, Trees for Cities, and Invicta Primary School.
